P52 Week 4 (Self-Portrait)

This is not something I do very often...take my own picture.  I've watched countless times as my daughters and their friends do this and they have a great time!  Since I've decided to join the P52 Challenge, I stepped out of my comfort zone and did it anyway.  I put most of my effort into experimenting with post editing in Lightroom 3.  It was fun to try some new techniques although I still have a lot to learn!!

Surprise Party!!!

Once upon a time (last night) we were invited to a surprise party for Dorothy (Mrs. Hughes) thrown by her family.  As we huddled in the living room awaiting her arrival so we could shout SURPRISE at her, she jumped out of the closet and surprised us!!!  Apparently, she planned the whole party and the joke was on us.  And this is why, dear readers, we love the Hughes' family so much.  :)

We all brought lots of yummy food to our surprise party.  :)

We enjoyed a fun game of Catch Phrase which has become tradition since that beach trip together many years ago.  And we finished off the evening with devotions and encouragement in our walks with the Lord who drew us together and has given us such wonderful, precious friends.

P52 Week 3 (I Dreamed A Dream)

This week's challenge was hard...nothing but winter and cold around here!  Two pictures layered together finally gave me something I could work with.  Winter trees facing sunset, the bottom layer, were taken using a variation of a zoom burst. The top layer is a sunrise on a clear (cold!) morning.  Trying out a more artistic approach to photography was a wonderful challenge!

Nightmare???

The photo challenge this week was

I think my first attempt was more like 

"I dreamed a nightmare!"
